Why You Need to Switch to an Instagram Business Profile

If you’re a business or personal brand looking to grow your audience on Instagram, you may be wondering whether or not you should switch to a business profile. In this blog post, I’ll be explaining some of the main benefits of switching to a business account.

What is an Instagram Business Profile?

An Instagram Business profile provides business owners with more tools to optimize their Instagram marketing strategies. When you switch to a business profile, you’ll gain access to Instagram insights, promoted posts, the ability to add contact buttons to your profile, and the ability to schedule your posts.

How can you switch to an Instagram Business Profile?

In order to convert your Instagram profile into a business one, you’re required to connect your Facebook Page for that business. Note – You need to be an admin of the Facebook page you’re connecting to Instagram.

To get started, tap settings, and then tap account.

Tap the Switch to Professional Account prompt

Once you get to this step, you’ll be asked to choose between a business account or a creator account. A creator account gives social media influencers more insights that are catered to their needs.

Select the best category that describes your business.

That’s it! Once you switch to a business account, you won’t be able to switch your page to private. However, if you’d like to revert back to a personal account, you’ll be able to do so.

Instagram Insights

Instagram Insights give you the analytics you need to have a better understanding of what’s working and what’s not. You can see how many people are viewing and engaging with your stories and posts on Instagram. You’ll also get to see some key demographic information, such as age, location, gender, and activity peaks.

Engagement Rate – This is a combination of your reach, likes, comments, and shares. Pay attention to which posts are generating the highest engagement, and commit to a strategy that produces similar content.

Brand Sentiment – How many people are talking about your brand (brand mentions).

Traffic – How many people on Instagram are visiting your website.

Sales – Conversions and Revenue generated.

You can schedule posts with a business profile

A newer feature that Instagram has finally permitted is the ability to schedule posts to Instagram.

Previously, when you wanted to schedule a post on IG, you were only allowed to set a reminder that would tell you when to upload your post. By switching to a business profile, you can now avoid this hassle and schedule posts with Instagram’s new publishing tool. This simplifies your posting so you don’t have to think about when to post throughout your day.

You can start investing in paid promotions

As organic reach on social media continues to drop, paid ads are a true and triumph way to get the results you’re looking for.

With Instagram ads, you can create advertisements that are specific to your business goals. Whether you’re looking to drive brand awareness, have potential customers learn more about your products or services, or increase your product sales, Instagram ads offers a solution that works for you.

You can push more conversions

Having a business account allows you to add a button prompt to your profile. This can be a contact button that includes a phone number, e-mail address, or directions to your business location. This simple addition has the ability to increase the number of people who reach out to you, giving you more opportunities to nurture and close a sale.

There’s also Instagram Shopping, a new feature that allows you to tag your products in your Instagram posts. When you tag a product, it’ll take customers who are interested to the exact product page. You can expect to see further additions to Instagram shopping as more features continue to roll out.

Add Links to your Instagram Stories

Instagram stories are all the rage in the social media community. If your business has over 10,000 followers, you get the privilege of being able to include a link in your Instagram stories. This allows you to remind followers of your products and services while giving them a convenient way to “swipe up” and be taken directly to your web page.

You can also use this feature to further optimize your Instagram profile. Including highlights with links to your other social media accounts is a great way to leverage your Instagram traffic and grow your brand outside of the platform.

Wrapping it Up

Switching your Instagram profile to a business account gives you a plethora of useful features to really dive in and further understand your audience. If you’re a business owner looking to expand your reach on Instagram, I would highly recommend switching to a business profile as soon as possible.
